„Connecting the V for a Connected World“

As a keynote speaker, Dipl.-Ing. Robert Karban, CAE Software and Systems Environment Chief Engineer from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), who will speak on the topic of “Connecting the V for a Connected World”. The V in the title stands for the V-Modell, a standard procedure in system and software development. Developing space missions today actually requires a huge integrated system and software engineering workload. In his keynote, Karban will address the challenges that system engineers and software developers face today in the construction of spacecraft. Platforms such as OpenMBEE (Model Based Engineering Environment), Project Jupyter, SysML v2 (Systems Modeling Language), but also own solutions developed by JPL will be shown. In addition, Karban will demonstrate how SW engineering environments are used at NASA's JPL to enable the development of space flights in today's networked world. By the way, Karban is Austrian and studied at the Vienna University of Technology.

„Digital Transformation – The agile way“

Digital transformation means changing business activities, processes and structures of a company or organization using modern IT technologies. Often enough, such change processes are risky or even uncontrolled. In this lecture I will fall back on the roots of agile methods in order to show ways of managing digital transformations based on business and value.

CLOSING KEYNOTE

Software without soft skills is like hardware without electricity

In our complex world, the driving design factors increase their social and economic impact in unprecedented dimensions and speed. The change mechanisms often run outside of the usual linear and consecutive patterns. Not isolated specialist knowledge alone is the basis for innovation, but the ability to think in interdisciplinary and intercultural, social and political contexts.

Gerald Bast | Rector of the University of Applied Arts in Vienna
